Katherine Li
Hi! I’m Katherine, one of the co-presidents of DHSO. I’m a third-year computational biology student. In the future, I’m interested in working with technology that has biological applications, whether through research or software. As part of DHSO, I enjoy working with the d/Deaf community and learning more about how to promote accessibility. In my free time, I enjoy playing games and baking.
Grace Mosier
Grace Mosier is a 4th year Linguistics major. She hopes to add an Education and Information Studies minor, and eventually work with Deaf children in some way. Having learned American Sign Language and being exposed to the Deaf community at her previous community college, she was excited to join DHSO for the opportunity to serve the d/Deaf/Hoh communities in new ways. Now, as Director of the Bridge Project, she is eager to continue specifically advocating and working for a better relationship between audiologists and the Deaf community. Grace loves learning languages, singing with her acapella group on campus, and making baked goods to share with friends and family!

Colette Chiang
Hi! I’m Colette, one of the co-directors for Teen Club. I’m a fourth year psychobiology major hoping to pursue a career in research and healthcare. My interest in DHSO began after spending an incredible summer with the children in No Limit’s theater program. In my free time, I enjoy backpacking, rock climbing, and crocheting!

Hi! My name is Greg. I am one of the co-directors for our Teen Club program. I’m a fourth year psychobiology major hoping to pursue a career in healthcare. DHSO interested me because of their mission statement to bridge the gap between the hearing and Deaf communities. I felt that DHSO filled an important niche between service and advocacy and I wanted to contribute to that. In my free time, I love beekeeping, reading, and lifting.

Hi all, I’m Lany and I am one of the Youth Literacy Directors! I am currently a 3rd year Psychobiology major hoping to pursue medicine. I joined DHSO to connect with d/Deaf and hard of hearing children and help promote their confidence in learning. It has been such a rewarding experience so far! Outside of DHSO, I enjoy exploring LA with friends and illustrating.

Hi Everyone! I’m Eddie and I’m one of the Youth Literacy Project Directors! I am in my third year majoring in Human Biology and Society looking to enter the medical field. I joined DHSO to bridge the gap between the d/Deaf and hearing communities and to connect with d/Deaf youth. In my free time, I enjoy golfing, watching thriller movies, and cooking!

Konmal Ali
Hi! My name is Konmal and I serve as one of the Co-Directors of Advocacy. I am a third-year Human Biology and Society Major and hope to pursue a career as a physcian-scientist. As a part of DHSO, I yearn to explore avenues to developing resources to mitigate barriers and connect with communities to amplify their stories as well as draw from the experiences of d/Deaf and Hard or Hearing individuals. In my free time, I enjoy creative writing, traveling to new cities, and playing the piano.

Hello! My name is River, and I’m one of the co-directors of the Advocacy branch. I’m a second year Human Biology and Society Major with hopes of working in the medical field. I joined DHSO because I wanted help bridge the gap between the Deaf community and the hearing one. Outside of school, I play video games with my friends, explore different parts of LA, and do a bit of doodling.

Hello! My name is Anubhav and I am one of the co-directors for the Advocacy program. I am a 3rd year Human Biology and Society Major and plan on working in the medical field as a physician. As part of this organization, I have had great experiences as a leader and volunteer providing a fun and engaging experience for members throughout this unique community. Outside of DHSO and school, I enjoy playing music, and spending time with my family/friends cooking!

Dr. Alice Kuo
Dr. Alice Kuo is Professor of Internal Medicine and Pediatrics at the David Geffen School of Medicine at UCLA and of Health Policy and Management in the Fielding UCLA School of Public Health; Chief of Medicine-Pediatrics at UCLA. Clinically, Dr. Kuo sees primary care patients at the Medicine-Pediatrics Comprehensive Care Center in Santa Monica, the first ambulatory practice at UCLA with extended hours in the evenings and on weekends and holidays. She also directs the School Function Program at the Venice Family Clinic, a primary care-based model for addressing learning issues and mental health problems in children.
Dr. Alison Grimes
Dr. Alison Grimes, AuD, is Director of Audiology and Newborn Hearing Screening at UCLA Health. Dr. Grimes currently serves as Chair of the California State Licensing Board for Audiologists, and participates in a number of professional and technical committees in a variety of audiology practice areas. She enjoys seeing both pediatric and adult patients at UCLA.
Dr. Kashnia Rosenau
Dr. Kashia Rosenau is a fellow in the Leadership of Education in Neurodevelopmental Disabilities program and volunteers in their clinic helping families navigate the world of neurodevelopment disorders across the lifespan. Her research focuses on increasing access to evidence-based practices for individuals with autism. She is passionate about increasing the quality of physical and mental health care and the importance of reducing stigma in mental health.
Dr. Alison Herrmann
Dr. Alison Herrmann is a health services researcher, with a background and training in psychology. Dr. Herrmann is Associate Director of the UCLA Kaiser Permanente Center for Health Equity and Research Scientist in the UCLA Fielding School of Public Health. She is also Co-Director of Disparities, Community Outreach and Engagement at the UCLA Jonsson Comprehensive Cancer Center. Dr. Herrmann’s primary interest is in the design, implementation and evaluation of sustainable, systems-based interventions to improve health behaviors and mitigate chronic disease disparities among diverse population groups. She is committed to collaborating with community members and organizations across societal sectors in this work and has extensive experience in the development of culturally appropriate research materials.
Dr. Christina Palmer
Dr. Palmer is a board-certified and licensed genetic counselor and has been actively involved in the genetic counseling profession for over 30 years, and she has provided psychiatric genetic counseling to individuals or families in the UCLA General Genetics Clinic. Dr. Palmer’s research interests generally center around outcomes of genetic counseling and genetic testing, and access to genetic information, particularly for under-served communities. She has been PI or Co-PI of NSF- and NIH-funded projects since 1995, including a multi-institutional, multidisciplinary NIDCD-funded project assessing outcomes of genetic counseling and Connexin 26 genetic testing as an adjunct to newborn hearing screening, and a multi-institutional, multidisciplinary NHGRI-funded project assessing the outcomes of genetic counseling and genetic testing on deaf adults and the deaf community.
Matt Flesock
Mr. Matt Flesock joined the UCLA Health Sound Body Sound Mind team in September 2015. As Executive Director, Matt Flesock has been the executive director of the UCLA Health Sound Body Sound Mind team since September 2015. His primary focus is the overall strategy and management of the SBSM program, including community partnerships, fundraising and program development. Matt grew up in Yorba Linda, CA, and is a graduate of UCLA, with a double major in Geography/Environmental Studies and History. At his core, Matt believes that health equity is one of the most important concepts to promote in today's world. Driven by a lifelong passion for the outdoors, you will often find Matt hiking, backpacking, and rock climbing.
